Steven Connelly joins us at Temple Knight as Business Development Manager, working in Paul’s new sales team.
He grew up in the Scottish Highlands, north of Inverness. At 18, he left to work in Glasgow, before heading down South just over 10 years ago, keeping his thick Scottish accent!
We asked Steven a few questions to find out more about him.
Tell us a bit about your career
I’ve been working in the industry for over 30 years, with the majority of my time spent at NCS where I managed various national accounts.
I worked my way up from a Trainee sales position to Sales Manager, where I was responsible for generating leads and developing the business.
You’ve worked in the industry for many years?
I’ve always enjoyed the buzz of sales, and building a rapport with people, and ultimately winning business.
I’m not a journeyman so I’ve always been committed and invested in a role. I enjoy dealing with customers and retaining them as their business grows.
It’s a face-paced industry, as printer technology is changing all the time, and I like seeing things change and new products developed.
What does your new role involve?
I’m focussed on growing the sales of the business, through new opportunities and leads I’ve identified.
For existing customers, I’ll be running account reviews to make sure our customers are getting what they want and their needs are met. Also I’ll provide recommendations for new products or software solutions, or improvements to processes.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I’m looking forward to expanding our customer user base, and continuing to help grow the Temple Knight business. I want to also continue establishing excellent relationships with all our customers, and grow trust in doing business with them.
What attracted you to Temple Knight?
I like that it’s such a tightly knit company with a real family story behind the business.
Although we’re smaller than some competitors, we look after our customers with an excellent service through a network of engineers.
What do like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my partner Julie (who will hopefully become my wife soon), as well as my family and friends – I’m a bit of a social convenor!
